As compared to unsuccessful response (UR), a successful response (SR) to PTCA shows a significant increase in TcPO2 beginning the first week following the procedure and steadily increases over subsequent weeks.
Values increased immediately in both groups, but SR continued to increase while UR showed no further increase after day 1.
SR statistically significantly > UR at all points except day 1.
According to Pecararo in his 1991 Diabetes article, TcPO2 > 30 is a strong predictor of spontaneous healing in patients with diabetic foot ulcers.  75% of SR group had TcPO2 > 30 at 4 weeks.
Data suggest that the TcPO2 course over the 1st month is a better predictor of vascular surgery outcome than a single value.
