•Arterial Disease:
–Patients
with critical limb ischemia, (rest pain, gangrene, or an arterial
ulcer) will
almost always have PtcO2 <30 mmHg and usually less than 20 mm Hg.
–However, low AIR values may be caused by a diffusion barrier such as edema, excess consumption caused by inflammation, or reversible vasoconstriction caused by cold exposure, dehydration, or pain.
–Sea level air PtcO2 values need to be evaluated in conjunction with the
clinical history
and conditions present at the time of testing.
