The Lymphedema Treatment Act Passed!

Lymphedema Treatment Act

A staggering percentage of patients with chronic wounds have lymphedema. It’s a disease that every wound care practitioner has to manage, often in the absence of insurance coverage for the treatment that the patient needs. For years, a group of dedicated clinicians and patients have worked on the Lymphedema Treatment Act (LTA) and it became law on 12/23/22! The LTA goes into effect on January 1st, 2024. The LTA will improve insurance coverage for the medically necessary, doctor-prescribed compression supplies that are the cornerstone of lymphedema treatment.

Here’s the FAQ sheet for the LTA.

Congratulations to those people who worked years to make this a reality in order to help an often-ignored group of patients.
