I never miss attorney Knicole Emanuel’s blog posts. I have never met her and have no business or professional relationship with her. I am just pointing out something she said in her most recent post. Although CMS has posted an Audit Process Overview to detail the process for auditors, auditors do not always follow the process. Most clinicians do not contact her until they are far into the process, or have lost a round of appeals. She’s indicated in her post that she’d like to follow the entire process – free of charge – with a practitioner – in order to watch how it unfolds.
I think that’s an interesting offer. Nearly every wound care and hyperbaric medicine practitioner is undergoing some sort of Medicare audit. I intend to at least notify her office the next time I am involved in one. Check out her entire post:
